Weight check and going green, red, and blue

(Andrew, Parker, Nicholas)

I can't believe the boys are 11 weeks old the days are flying by and seem to all run together (that might be in part to sleep deprivation). In the past weeks the boys have spent time at the local parks and seem to enjoy it. Though they might not be ready for the playground quite yet.

Last Friday, I took the boys in to the pediatrician's office for a weight check. I was a little worried about Andrew and Nicholas. Andrew seems to spit up a lot after some feedings and Nicholas won't always take his full bottle often stopping after an ounce or an ounce and a half.

Andrew is now 10 lbs 3 oz, Parker 10 lbs 8 oz and Nicholas 9 lbs 12 oz. That means they have each gained over a pound in the last three weeks and there is nothing to worry about.

Also on Friday we received our order of cloth diapers. We decided to go with Fuzzi Bunz. In keeping with the boys color assignments we ordered blue, red and green diapers to start with. The diapers are very cute and super soft. I was shocked the first time I changed the boys into the cloth, they were no longer crying while being changed. Our family thinks we are crazy for going with cloth diapers, but they are definitely not the cloth diapers of our parents' generation. No folding, no pins, no swirling and dunking - just adjustable snaps.

We estimate going with cloth will save us around $6,000 total and it's nice to not be throwing away 70 lbs of used diapers a week. We'll still be using disposables sometimes and I'm not going to switch to washable wipes because there is a limit to how much contact I want with diaper contents. It's just nice to know that the boys are more comfortable and we are doing a little to reduce what we are sending to the land fill.

We are behind on processing photos, but we have 11 week old photo and a few candid shots. I'll have to post them when they are ready.

  1. Oooh, I loved Fuzzi Bunz! Here's a tip for the larger sizes - don't buy the fancy made-for-FB inserts. Go to Costco, buy a pack of 24 microfiber cloths from the automotive section, cut them in thirds. Two fit perfectly inside a medium FB for daytime, 3-4 for night.
